DESCRIPTION:As the world unites for the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence\, the Women Lawyers Association (WLA) will be launching a Safe House for GBV survivors. \nThe Safe House has been built with funding from the Nick Webber Trust. The Safe House is fully furnished and located at a secure location. The Clooney Foundation for Justice is funding operational costs of the Safe House. \nThe Safe House is crucial in supporting survivors of GBV by providing safe and secure shelter to survivors at risk of further harm in their home or communities. The survivors will also be provided with counseling and legal aid services.

DESCRIPTION:Our Waging Justice for Women (WJW) Fellow Hazel Olithia Miseleni sat down for a panel discussion hosted by Samuel Genda of Timveni Radio to discuss the 16 Days of Activism. Hazel highlighted the need for women and girls to be informed about their rights and the various mechanisms that can be used to enforce those rights against perpetrators of GBV. Highlighted was the work of WLA through Legal clinics\, free legal services and the toll free line.  Finally\, Hazel explained that this year’s theme to ‘invest’ goes beyond financial resources. She called upon the nation to invest time and energy into women and girls in order to allow them to realize their full potential which in turn will allow them to contribute to the development of the country.
