As the world unites for the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the Women Lawyers Association (WLA) launched Safe House for GBV survivors.
The House, built with funding from the Nick Webber Trust, is fully furnished and located at a secure location. The Clooney Foundation for Justice is funding operational costs of the Safe House.
The opening ceremony was today graced by the Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Honorable Jean Sendeza, reinforcing the significance of our collective responsibility in the fight against gender-based violence.
Welcoming the minister was the vice president of WLA, Matamando Chiweza who said that the house, is not just a physical space but a symbol of our shared determination to create a society where survivors are not only protected but empowered to reclaim control over their lives.
