This workshop is the third in a series of planned opportunities to support WLA members in conducting legal clinics to reach women and girls in rural communities that are under-served by the justice communities and where serious human rights violations (including child marriage or sexual- and gender-based violence) commonly occur. In partnership with the Malawi Human Rights Commission and other organizations, WLA has identified key communities for delivery of clinics over the next 18 months.
Because WLA membership comprises lawyers from the public and private sectors with a range of professional experiences, this training is designed to build baseline knowledge of several key topics:
- Fundamentals of regional and international human rights law concerning women and girls’ rights
- Understanding ‘holistic strategic litigation’
- Ethical considerations when interviewing victims/survivors of human rights violations
- “Do’s” and “don’ts” when conducting trauma-informed interviews
